A blaze erupted at a farm in Surrey, which alarmed so many onlookers that the local fire brigade received more than 30 emergency calls asking for assistance.
Earlier this week (May 12th), a barn caught fire at Poyle Farm in Tongham, which required multiple crews from Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) to put it out, Get Surrey revealed.
SFRS reassured the public on its Twitter account that they had been alerted to the huge plume of smoke and were dealing with the flames.
“Tongham Fire incident update. Please note the smoke plume from this incident can be seen from some distance. Please be re-assured that we have fire appliances in attendance and further vehicles on route,” the fire service tweeted.
However, it also advised those living near the farm to “please stay indoors and keep windows and doors closed as a precautionary measure”.
A blaze also broke out in a woodland area in Colchester this week, resulting in three crews being called to the incident in Harwich Road.
The East Anglian Daily Times reported an area of woodland measuring ten metres by ten metres was on fire as a result of a three-metre high log pile setting alight.
Fire services from Colchester and Wivenhoe were alerted to the incident by onlookers who had noticed the high plumes of smoke from Greenstead slopes.
